Professional Bio: Terra Miley graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2025. During her time at UMBC, she conducted research under Professor Govind Rao, focusing on developing a magnesium-binding biosensor for use in cell-free protein synthesis bioreactor systems. She also worked under Dr. Kevin McFarland at AstraZeneca to optimize cell culture feed media in pseudo-perfusion bioreactors using an intracellular redox biosensor. She is co-advised by Professor Wilfred Chen and Mark Blenner, and her research focuses on developing real-time intracellular biosensors.
Fun Bio: In her free time, Terra enjoys photography, traveling, visiting coffee shops, and going on walks with friends.
