Professional Bio: Katie Nelson graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming in 2017. As an undergraduate, she was advised by Dr. John Oakey and studied fundamental biology using microfluidics. She focused on nuclear scaling by inertially focusing nuclei and encapsulating them within droplets. Katie is involved in the NIH Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Program at the University of Delaware. She is co-advised by Dr. Millicent Sullivan and Dr. Jason Gelghorn in Biomedical Engineering. Her graduate work is focused on maternal-fetal health and understanding the placenta as a barrier to drug delivery and as a potential location for a targeted therapy


Fun Bio: Katie enjoys outdoor activities, exploring the east coast and watching soccer.  She also loves a good Netflix or Hulu binge while eating Snap pizza or Honey Grow.
